Chipotle has demonstrated a fantastic example of cause marketing and how to accomplish it successfully. The company throws a yearly event called "Boorito" on Halloween where customers are encouraged to dress up (most notably as an actual burrito) and in return will receive any burrito for the price of $2. Proceeds from this event (up to $1 million) are donated to the Chipotle Cultivate Foundation. The Chipotle Cultivate Foundation is a non-profit organization that focuses on bringing awareness to food issues and healthy/sustainable food supply. In addition to events like Boorito, Chipotle's famous "Back to the Start" commercial with Willie Nelson (seen below), while not directly benefiting the Chipotle Cultivate Foundation, does promote the importance of creating a sustainable future with our farms. Chipotle has donated over $2 million over the past years with events similar to Boorito and through their website.
