Successful Superbowl ad yesterday....
I happened to catch the last quarter of the Superbowl yesterday. I wanted to be able to participate in commercial conversations today. One ad in particular stood out for me because it created an immediate response and reaction, which is usually pretty rare for me. It was the 20 sec. ad by the Wounded Warrior Project. The ad reminded viewers of the real heroes and how donating helped wounded American veterans. All that was necessary was to text WWP to a number to donate $10. I wanted to text right away, but first I wanted to verify they were a legitimate organization. I took my phone and looked them up online to see what percentage of funds went to the charity versus advertising, overhead, etc. I was surprised to see they listed around 82% of funds were directed to the charity. Since I was on their website, I could have donated directly on their site...however, I would have had to start typing in my email...maybe do a PayPal thing...which was too time consuming for me at the time, I am kinda lazy. However, I was able to find those texting directions again...which was good as my brain had already dropped that relevant information. Once finding the magic text code, I entered it and was happy to donate easily. I wish the ad would have told me they percentage of dollars to avoid me having to search it out...but maybe that is bad advertising for most viewers...maybe I'm a little pickier than most. This ad worked for me. I donated and felt good...which while watching something as inane like the Superbowl, was a revelation for me. I hope to see more quick donation opportunities in the future. PBS...are you listening...I'd gladly donate while watching an episode of "Downton Abbey".
