Get Moving with Active

Active.com has received a fair share of my time and money in the past decade. They keep luring me back in with weekly emails featuring upcoming events. Why yes, Active, I do want to wear green and run the St Patrick’s Day Dash.

Their website offers a complete listing of athletic events across the globe for just about every sport, from triathlons and half marathons to Lacrosse tournaments. Also, the website has a wealth of health and fitness information, such as training guides and nutrition tips.

They are successful with internet marketing, first because Active.com has good usability and continually updated content. The website is easy to search for destination or activity-specific events. Want to run a half marathon in New York this year? Search. Find it. Register.

Additionally, Active excels in these three areas:

1. High Google Ranking:
Active was no. 1 in a search for “athletic events” and “running events.”

2. Social Media Engagement:
The social media links are front and center, including activity on Google+, Facebook, and Twitter. They have 761k likes on Facebook.

3. Website Memberships Capture Leads and Grow Participation:
Free and paid memberships are available to encourage guest participation and provide a way for Active to capture leads.
