Macy's Thanks for Sharing!

I am currently a Macy’s Cardholder and I shop their quite regularly. However, I will admit that I have been oblivious to many of the charities that Macy’s is involved in.  I guess part of it is just not realizing the advertisements that they run include messages like this current one for the month of February. This particular image is on the Macy's Facebook page. With a great play on Valentine's Day and with support for the American Heart Association.  What is crazy is that after I saw this, I went to Macy's website and found the charities that they are involved in on this website. http://www1.macys.com/m/campaign/give-back/index

What is disappointing is that the link is at the bottom of the page where anybody is most likely not to look at. According this link, Macy's has been able to donate $60 million and 111,000 hours of community service every year. That is incredibly impressive! Macy's should talk about that and show people they care about the community. People are sentimental. People like to hear a great story. I also only recently discovered that if you enroll in their "Thanks for Sharing" program you get 10% back with every purchase at Macy's with your Macy's card from the designated time period from Fall to end of Christmas. $10 of your $25 enrollment fee goes to charity. Charities include Make a Wish Foundation, American Heart Association, and Susan G Komen.

I only found out about this program when I made close to my last purchase of 2012 at Macy's. That is sad because Macy's can easily get tons of people to sign up and earn money back and donate to charity. Apparently this program Macy's has is incredibly successful and I think they do a great job using Word of Mouth because I have never heard of it until this past year from a Sales rep. But maybe if they talked about more using other forms of media they might get even more participants.
