NASA: An Internet Marketing Success

Please identify a website you believe is an excellent example of "Internet Marketing," include the URL link, screen shot(s), and explain why it is a good example.

I pulled up NASA's website and a full hour passed before I remembered my original purpose for typing in the url. If that isn't good evidence of internet marketing, I'm not sure what is.

As we've learned from day one, the end goal for any marketing campaign is to create a memorable and remarkable experience. NASA meets and exceeds this expectation by providing truly engaging experiences for every type of consumer. No matter your age, sex, or interest, NASA will find a way to entertain you, and you won't have to search for it. On the home page alone, NASA markets to kids, women, and techies with links to a kids's club, women@NASA, and apps featuring "a wealth of NASA information." You can watch videos, play games, and read articles with the click of a button. Perhaps more importantly, NASA's site is filled with dozens of unique, high quality images. The colors on the screen alone create an atmosphere of energy and engagement.

For an organization dedicated to science, NASA's website does an incredible job stimulating visitors by presenting their content in a playful yet academic manner. NASA stays relevant with current marketing tools as shown by an active Twitter feed, blog updates, and "ScienceCasts." They include real-time videos and NASA television access for those who would rather watch than read. NASA also includes a "call to action" in nearly every corner of their website without being obnoxious. Do you like what you saw? Sign up to see more!

Between the textual material, photos and videos, news on upcoming projects, and decades of mission reports, you don't have to be a science buff to be entertained. Case and point.
