The Ad Men Forgot to Tell the Web Guys

This billboard caught my eye as I drove along 1st Avenue South in Burien.  At first, I laughed when I thought of the stubborn men I know.  Then I realized what thousands of deaths meant, and it wasn’t so funny.

The ad was effective because, when I got home, I checked out the url,  ahrq.gov, expecting to see something about the stubbornness of men and how they can stay healthy - a checklist or something relating to the ad.

Instead, I found this generic website, with way too much information on it, and none of it related to the message on the billboard.

I would have given up, but to complete this blog post, I clicked around and did find something on prevention and staying healthy - links to subscriptions, pdf's and podcasts, but again, way too much information and none of it targeted.

So, white the ad itself was effective, the follow through was not.  It seems the ad men forgot to tell the web guys.
